Gifting with Purpose: How Snappy Turns Values into Action

While Snappy was already doing good, like planting their own forest with 50,000+ trees, the rapidly-growing startup also wanted to add a corporate social responsibility program. In particular, a CSR initiative that focused on employee gifting. What better way to live Snappy’s values as a gifting platform?

Like choosing the perfect gift, creating a CSR program from scratch can be quite daunting. Where do you start? How do you maintain employee engagement? Snappy’s CEO, Hani Goldstein, knew her Employee Engagement Manager would be up for the challenge. So she introduced Natalie Rosenthal to Good Today after meeting one of our founders.

With Good Today’s quick set up and seamless integration with Slack, Natalie found everything she needed to launch their employee giving back program, all wrapped up with a bow.

Turning gifting into a ritual

Getting started with Good Today was simple, so Natalie didn’t need to worry about technical details or managing lots of logistics. This freed her up to focus on solving the human side of engaging employees. To overcome this top challenge when launching a CSR program, Snappy decided to make giving a ritual.

”GoodToday made it easy for us to get our CSR program started.”

Natalie Rosenthal, Employee Engagement and Culture Leader

Every Friday, Snappy employees come together to each give $3 to one of two charities featured in the Good Today app on Slack. This weekly ritual plugs right into a tool everyone already uses, and Good Today’s automatic updates on total donation amounts via Slack highlights impact and keeps engagement going week after week.

Proving it`s better to give than to receive

Since January 2021, more than 60% of Snappy employees engage with Good Today on a weekly basis. So far, this ritual of giving has raised $16K+ in company-sponsored donations, and personal donations from employees, for organizations that include CARE, Make-A-Wish, and VictimsFirst.

As with other traditions, this weekly ritual of employee giving has continued to grow and evolve. Snappy now ties Good Today donations into their Friday company lunches as an act of good before signing off for the weekend. They also added Good Today lunch & learns to their programming, to further support Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust and other missions Snappy cares about as a team.
